As an Associate Consultant at LFA, Alem works to create meaningful social impact through quality research. She supports her consulting teams by designing survey instruments and interview protocols; collecting, managing, and analyzing data; conducting literature reviews, and creating visual content for client deliverables. She also provides admin support and coordination for an array of project tasks.
Before joining LFA, Alem gained extensive research experience working in social and cultural psychology labs, focusing on issues of racial and gender diversity in organizations as well as disparities in the education and health of historically marginalized communities of color. She managed the Culture, Diversity, & Intergroup Relations Lab at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she worked on various projects related to law and policy, exploring issues such as the role of implicit bias in the criminal justice system, and the growing criminalization of immigration. She also has experience researching cultural models of education among youth in Latinx and Native American communities.
In her free time, Alem enjoys trying new recipes, getting outdoors, and spending time with loved ones.
